The picturesque greens of the Beldih Club in Jamshedpur witnessed a thrilling display of golfing prowess as the 11th leg of the Indian Golf Union East Zone Amateur Feeder Tour, the Jamshedpur Amateur Open, unfolded on August 17 and 18. With 25 amateurs competing across five categories, the event proved to be a spectacle of skill and determination.
The tournament featured divisions for various age groups, ensuring that golfers from all stages of life had a platform to showcase their talents. The categories included Amateur, Mid-Amateur (35 to 49 years), Senior (50 to 59 years), Super Seniors (60 years and above), and the Ladies division.

In the Amateur category, Kolkata's Suveer Kapoor emerged victorious with an impressive score of 145, one stroke over par. A captivating twist ensued as another Kolkata golfer, Samridh Sen, managed an identical score after a gruelling round of golf. A tense playoff followed, during which Kapoor exhibited nerves of steel, shooting a decisive birdie on the closing hole to secure his victory.
Local favourite Navtez Singh dominated the Mid-Amateur category, clinching top spot with a score of 147, three over par. Abhishek Mitra, also from the region, displayed commendable skill and tenacity, securing the second position with a score of 153 over the two days of competition.

In the Senior category, Kulvin Suri reigned supreme with a total score of 158 across two rounds of golf. Ashit Luthra secured the second position with a score of 172, showcasing the spirit of competition and sportsmanship that characterised the event.
The Super Seniors division bore witness to a similar outcome, with Kulvin Suri emerging as the champion once again, while Ashit Luthra securing the runner-up position.
On the Ladies’ side of the competition, Subhra Mishra showcased her golfing prowess, capturing victory with a score of 193. Tamanna Singh trailed closely behind, securing the second position with a score of 199.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by the presence of IGU’s vice president, Farzan Heerjee, and senior member of Beldih Club, Jeetu Garg. They felicitated the deserving winners, acknowledging their dedication and skill. Heerjee took the opportunity to highlight the initiatives undertaken by IGU for the development of golf at the grassroots level, emphasising the importance of nurturing emerging talent and promoting the sport's growth across the nation.
