Weather changes with the arrival of the monsoon. The season brings a sweep of cold air after scorching heat, but also fever, cold and cough to almost every home. The initial symptoms of this illness are a stuffy nose, sore throat, mild fever and whooping cough. We commonly refer to this type of sickness as the flu. However, most people often downplay the symptoms, thinking they're no big deal. But this is something people should take seriously, as these nominal symptoms can lead to serious complications in the future. So, it's best to prevent the disease rather than seeking remedies.

In a recent interview with Anandabazar Online, Dr. Angshuman Mukhopadhyay, senior consultant pulmonologist at HP Ghosh Hospital, explained, “Influenza infections are commonly referred to as flu. The symptoms of flu are similar to those of other viral infections, such as fever, cough and cold, which occur due to seasonal changes but usually subside on their own.”

When to seek medical attention?

Dr. Mukhopadhyay advises, “Flu comes in various forms, including influenza A, influenza B and swine flu. However, swine flu is more complex and severe. If you notice any symptoms, don't hesitate to consult a medical expert immediately.”
