Dr. Mukhopadhyay stated, "Air pollution isn't the sole cause of lung diseases. Excessive smoking, an unhealthy lifestyle and working outdoors also contribute to various lung ailments. Additionally, the 'RSV' virus has emerged as a new threat and vaccination against it has not yet begun here, although it has started in some foreign countries. Unlike influenza, which can be treated with certain medications, 'RSV' virus medication is not yet readily available in this country."

He further added, "As the ailments regarding lung diseases increase during winter, people especially the elderly who smoke should be extremely cautious. They should undergo timely influenza and pneumonia vaccinations. Additionally, those who have weak immunity or suffer from diabetes should take precautions during this winter season."
