CANVAS CHRONICLES: A Spectacular Showcase of Emerging Talent in Art & Literature

Canvas Chronicles is an event organised by Spondon Ganguli and Srijan - School of Art & Craft to launch new authors and budding artists. The event was held from 2nd October to 8th October 2023 at Azad Hind Gallery, Netaji Bhawan, Uttarpara.

The Chief Guest at the event was Sri Dilip Yadav, Chairman of Uttarpara Kotrung Municipality. The other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Sri Binod Ghosal (Eminent Writer), and Sri Bikash Mukherjee (Eminent Artist). The Principals/Heads of the institutions of different renowned schools in and around Uttarpara were also invited.

Spread over 7 days, Canvas Chronicles included an exhibition of books and works of art, and an open mic, where writers and poets read out their pieces of writing. On the 3rd of October, there was a sit-and-draw competition where students of age groups from 6 to 18 years participated. The drawings and paintings of the promising young children were exhibited.

The artists and authors who participated in this program were Apabrito Goswami, Mintu Das, Pamella Paul, Prakriti Rakshit, Ramit Saha, Lagnajita Chatterjee, Papia Ghosh, and Spondon Ganguli.

About the organiser:

Spondon Ganguli embarked on his career as an ICT educator in 2000, contributing his expertise to various schools in India. Beyond the classroom, he ventured into the realm of authorship in 2019 with his debut book ‘Forgotten Love, Unforgotten Love’. His literary prowess shines through as his works grace anthologies worldwide, including ‘Letters Here to Hereafter’, ‘The Great Indian Anthology’, ‘Memories of Food’, and ‘Indian Poetry Review’. He completed his 7th year (Chitra Nandan) in painting and art from Suranandan Bharati in the year 2008.

Spondon is not only a prolific contributor to anthologies but also an author of several engaging books of poetry and novels. Among them are ‘Let Me Hold Your Hand’, ‘Do Not Leave Me’, ‘Whispers of Realms’, and ‘Moner Obhibekti Ek Guccho Kobitaye’, to name a few.
