As many as seven persons, including a four-year-old-girl, were discharged from Bokaro General Hospital after they were cured of Covid-19 with doctors given them a grand send-off on Wednesday.
But two new cases, one of whom is a worker at a jewellery shop on Bypass Road, Chas, were recorded in Bokaro.
The shop has been sealed while a micro-containment zone has been declared in and around the residence of the 45-year-old employee in Sarvodya Nagar, Chas.
As many as 45 swab samples, taken from the staff of the jewellery shop and nearby residents, have been sent for testing to Patliputra Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in Dhanbad.
Civil surgeon Dr A.K. Pathak said, “We are tracing contracts of the jewellery showroom worker who came from Bihar Sharif on June 3. The travel history of both the positive cases was noted”.
The shop worker and the other patient, a 22-year-old man who arrived here from Bellary in Karnataka six days ago, have been shifted to BGH.
The district administration conducted a sanitisation drive at the areas where the two cases were detected. Bokaro now has three micro-containment zones, including one in Chas.
The seven patients, who were discharged on Wednesday, are from Maoist-prone Gomia block of the district. SDO Shashi Prakash Singh, director of BGH A.K. Singh, civil surgeon Pathak and other doctors sent them off with flowers, masks and medicines.
They were also told to remain in home quarantine for 14 days.
Deputy commissioner Mukesh Kumar lauded the staff at BGH for maintaining an encouraging recovery rate of Covid-19 patient. Since March, there have been 47 positive cases of coronavirus detected in the district. Of them, 11 were e active as of Wednesday.
