Jharkhand agriculture, animal husbandry, and cooperative minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey reprimanded officials during a review meeting in Ranchi on Monday for their lack of preparedness and knowledge about government schemes for farmers.
Sources present at the meeting said that Tirkey was visibly upset as several district agriculture officers (DAO) failed to answer her queries on government schemes, particularly those relevant during the ongoing rabi season.
A state-level workshop was organised at Agriculture Bhawan in Ranchi and the objective was to give correct information about rabi crops to farmers and promote advanced agricultural practices.
Tirkey started addressing the workshop by questioning the DAOs about the departmental schemes.
She bagan with the Bokaro DAO, but did not get any answer. The minister then questioned officials from other districts. “Unfortunately, none of the officials could give satisfactory answer to the question,” said an official.
Tirkey also instructed to issue a show cause notice to Godda DAO for being absent from the workshop.
