It was time to pay tributes to Jamshetji Nusserwanji Tata, the founding father of Tata Steel on his 183rd birth anniversary today.
Observed as Founder's Day, the day-long celebration began with Tata Sons chairman, N. Chandrasekaran offering floral tributes to JN Tata's statue inside Tata Steel's works alongwith other dignitaries and honorary guests across Tata Group.
T. V. Narendran, CEO and managing director, Tata Steel also graced the function. The employees and officials from Tata Motors as well as Tata Group paid homage to the founder.
Likewise, the Founder’s Day celebrations were organised at other locations and offices of Tata Steel across the country.
At the Kalinganagar plant in Odisha ,the event included a march-past and floral tributes to the founder Tata Steel’s Meramandali plant in Dhenkanal district of Odisha was illuminated with lights and athletic competitions among children and employees were organised by the sports department to mark the occasion.
The celebrations at all the venues were arranged by putting in place appropriate Covid-19 safety protocols while ensuring that all stakeholders are given enough opportunities to pay their respect to the founder.

Addressing an august gathering at the Postal Park in Bistupur, Chandrasekeran said, "It's a special day for all of us as we gather here to celebrate and pay homage to our founder. It's special because it brings a huge amount of inspiration. The last couple of years had been extremely difficult for everyone. But, I must say the way Tata group has come through with support of all of you has been extremely satisfying. Tata Steel in particular raised to the occasion on multiple fronts whether it is securing employees safety, the citizens of Jamshedpur got the support during Covid in terms of hospital facilities, evacuation,isolation facilities and above all raised to the call of the nation."
He also hailed the efforts of doctors and other medical staff for rendering their service during the Covid- 19 pandemic. Following the homage ceremony, the chairman met with the entire senior leadership team and went around the state- of-the-art production facility at the new trim line factory.
Among others who paid tributes to the founder at the Postal Park included former managing director of Tata Steel JJ Irani who was accompanied by his wife Daisy.
Socialite Ruchi Narendran and Tata Steel vice-president ( Corporate Services), Chanakya Chaudhury also paid his rich tributes to the founder.
The Founder's Day celebration was live streamed. The annual celebration this year is themed around “Life@TataSteel – Build the tomorrow you deserve”
Every year, Tata Steel along with other Tata group companies celebrates the birth anniversary of the founder and his vision of an industrial future with community welfare at its core.

JN Tata had begun his entrepreneurial journey with a textile mill in central India in the 1870s. His vision inspired the steel and power industry in India, set the foundation for technical education, and helped the country leapfrog to join the ranks of industrialised nations.
One of the key features of this year’s celebration is the illumination of more than 30 landmark spots in Jamshedpur including heritage buildings, places of worship, dozens of roundabouts, etc.
The picturesque Jubilee Park was also illuminated in and around the JN Tata statue area. The illuminations will continue till March 6. An exhibition was also inaugurated by the chairman at the Steelenium Hall inside Jamshedpur works.
Visitors will not be allowed to go inside Jubilee Park till March 6 due to Covid-19 restrictions.
