Police on Wednesday arrested a 26-year-old youth with a consignment of brown sugar at Kapali under Chandil thana area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district near Mango.
Police recovered 25 packers of the brown sugar from the accused while he was distributing the narcotic substance among the drug-peddlers in that area.
Identified as Shufi Nazim, the arrested youth is supposed to have link with the inter-states drug suppliers' network.
Revealing about the breakthrough, Seraikela-Kharsawan superintendent of police, Aanand Prakash said that since the past few days he was getting intelligence input that act of supply and peddling of brown sugar had been on the rise in Kapali area close to Mango locality of the steel city.
"Acting on the input, I instructed the Chandil sub-divisional police officer (SDPO)to conduct random raid in that locality. During the raids, the SDPO, Chandil starting the raids and eventually the drug-supplier was nabbed near the Bandhugora Hari Mandir, " said Anand Prakash while addressing a press conference in Seraikela on Wednesday.
The Seraikela-Kharsawa. SP revealed that during interrogation, the accused divulged he would bring the brown sugar from drug smuggler in Odisha and supply it to the drug-peddlers in Kapali and also Mango area.
The SP stated that by interrogating the accused to detect the exact location of the drug-smuggler so that they may they arrest him too. Significantly, the Jamshedpur police have started a special operation against the network of those involved in the racket in the city.
During the operation, the police on Tuesday arrested a 23-year-old youth Pranjal Paritosh Bodra with 18 packets of the brown sugar in Golmuri locality of the city.
