It is delightful

Passion is a strong belief in or liking for something, for which you’ll always take some time out from your busy life. It never bores you. So when your passion becomes your career, you do your best to overcome hurdles. Anything that is done from the heart has a delightful ending.

Successful run

Some may feel that choosing from so many career options is really tough, but it would be good if we could choose our passion as our career. This would bring success in the long run and make us more vibrant at work; otherwise we may be frustrated every other day.

Full life

One should do things one enjoys and get perfect at it. Then, in future, one will not be stuck at a 9-5 job for a salary and wake up cursing every morning. One would enjoy work and welcome each day with a smile. This is how one will live life to the fullest, without regrets.

No frustration

If one has a career which is his or her passion, one will never be frustrated or tire of work. Rather, one will enjoy working. Even if the pay is not much, one will not regret it. Not everyone has this privilege. It will also show the world the person’s talents. But, of course, one must be very sure of oneself.

Your choice

Turning your passion into career is not bad as it means you are not forced by your family to pursue a career but can pursue one of your own choice. You’ll work more passionately. And you’ll be able to say proudly that it’s not work but your passion. If you fail, there is no one to blame but yourself.

Class X, Sushila Birla Girls’ School, Calcutta

Stress-free

I am a passionate photographer and have decided to make it my career. Today the mantra is “follow your passion”. If your passion is your career, you won’t feel stressed about work as it is your area of interest and you will be keen to explore and earn through it.

Yes

Enjoyment lost

“Follow your passion” is a lofty idea — only for the privileged. Moreover, if the passion becomes a job, it will get too tedious; we won’t enjoy it as much as we would otherwise. We can bring passion to the job, which will give satisfaction and also financial stability. It will give us time to pursue our passion with no pressure of making a living.

Kills passion

Making passion your career is killing your passion. Passion is something one enjoys — it acts as a release to blow off some steam. If you make your passion your career, you will actually loose motivation when faced with the challenges. When things like financial cost, management issues get attached to passion, it begins to feel more like a burden. When under pressure to make money and the need to give it more time than we want, we might not do the work to our full potential. So we should try to love whatever we do.

Second year, BBA, The Bhawanipur Education Society College, Calcutta

Passion may pass

Our preferences change with time. From the kind of music we listen to and how we style our hair to foods we like and people we want to spend time with, everything tends to change. The danger in building a career out of your passion — this too may be transcient — is that if or when your in-terest fades away, you may find yourself seriously unhappy.

Class XII, Birla High School, Calcutta

Dream vs reality

It is a dream to get a job which is your passion as well. But life is not a dream, it’s a reality everyone has to face. Every job does not assure the financial security every parent wants their child to have. For example, even if you write good poems, it may not feasible to write poems for a living. So sometimes following your passion without heeding the financial difficulties it can bring is a bad move.
