YES

Find a solution

Che Guevara’s values teach a person to render selfless service to society. Be it any ideologist, dedication and faith can be shown through work, not through the image of the ideologist printed on a shirt. True character development occurs when the words of the ideologist touches your heart. Instead of wasting time on mobile phones and social media, criticising government members or their policies, they can find a solution to the problem and take actions to overcome the problem for “one who is not a part of the solution is a part of the problem”.

Know him

The revolution is not an apple that falls when it’s ripe but you have to make it fall, as Guevara once said. It is unfortunate that today’s youth wears Che on their chest but do not even know what he believed in. It is sad that instead of appreciating his values, we see him as a fashion trend.

Fit right

Nowadays students wear T-shirts which flaunt quotes by great men but the wearers do not even know what those sayings mean, forget follow them. They bother only about whether the T-shirt can arrest people’s attention and fit him or her well.

NO

No one cares

Che Guevara T-shirts are quite a fashion trend among youngsters, especially students. There has always been a tendency for some to glamourise and worship individuals that society previously condemned as evil. However, none of the students cares about the truth or history. People who follow this trend are advertising their lack of knowledge of who Guevara really was. The man was a prominent communist figure in the Cuban revolution who went on to then become a guerilla leader in South America. He was also a doctor whose philosophy of healthcare is clear in the Motorcycle Diaries.

No hero

Who is Che Guevara? A hero or a fashion statement? Or was he a devil in disguise? There are innumerable incidences of Guevara supporting Fidel Castro who forced LGBTQ people into labour camps and tortured them. Everyone looks upto him as a revolutionary but was he really one or rather a hypocrite?
