Children from financially weak families across the city will soon get a gift of books and stationery, thanks to a donation drive organised by the JIS Group to mark World Book Day.

The book donation camp held from April 8 to 17 saw people donating storybooks, unused colouring books, blank notebooks, pens, colour pencils, pencils, dictionaries, school and reference books. More than hundred books and stationery items were collected from 18 donation centres across the city. These items will be distributed among children from economically weak families.

“An educated child has a better ability to think, create, and express oneself freely. Many children belong to the deprived section of society and cannot afford to buy books, bags or the necessary study materials to support a stable education. Through this initiative, we aim at bridging the gap and extending our support towards unprivileged children,” said Sardar Taranjit Singh, managing director, JIS Group.
