Medals and degrees were awarded to more than 1,000 toppers of undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA programmes at the first convocation ceremony of JIS University on March 25.
West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and First Lady Sudesh Dhankhar attended the ceremony. The chief guest on the occasion was K.K. Agarwal, chairman, National Board of Accreditation. The guest of honour was Sabu Thomas, vice-chancellor of MG University.
The Governor urged the students not to forget their commitment towards the nation, humanism and equality. He also advised them to create their own definition of success. “More minds join academics today and it’s proven that a major section of demography belongs to the Young Indians. But more than minds, it is the mindset that governs today’s knowledge ecosystem and academic environment which has merged with the research and industry as both ends communicate seamlessly in the form of multitudinous engagements facilitating knowledge and innovation challenges and providing students direct access to skill sets complying with Industry 4.0,” Dhankhar said.
JIS University chancellor Sardar Taranjit Singh, Chancellor congratulated all the graduating students, their parents, faculty members and administrative staff. “I want to mention that 2020 was a difficult year for all. The strength and resilience shown by the faculty members, students and administrative staff during the tough times of the pandemic were commendable,” he said.

We believe that our students and their professional growth will help JIS university emerge as a world-class university,” JIS University vice-chancellor Indranil Sengupta said.
