Manipur will be having a five-day working week from Monday to Friday starting April 1, a state government notification issued on Saturday said.
All government departments and undertakings will open at 9am and continue till 5.30pm till October with a 30-minute lunch break at 1pm. From November to February, offices will start at 9am and end at 5pm.
The notification also said that state government schools will start at 8am from Monday to Saturday.
The five-day a week decision was taken in the first cabinet meeting of the new government chaired by chief minister N. Biren Singh on March 22. Singh on Saturday distributed the portfolios to his five ministerial colleagues.
