The West Bengal Board of Primary Education has asked the district primary school councils to submit records pertaining to the candidates who were recruited as teachers “as TET-2014 qualified candidates” so they can be submitted to the CBI.

The letter was issued to the council chairpersons after the high court ordered a CBI investigation into recruitment of teachers in government-aided primary schools by the board.

“Submit immediately to the undersigned original records/ files pertaining to the candidates who have been appointed as primary school teachers…. for submission to the CBI in terms of their memo,” says the letter signed by the board’s secretary, Ratna Chakraborty Bagchi.

The court on Monday asked the state government to remove primary education board president Manik Bhattacharya from his post as the court was not satisfied with Bhattachayrya’s role.

A district primary school council chairperson said following the receipt of the order, they have sent a communication to the sub-inspector of schools to send the records sought by the council.

Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay had on June 14 asked the central investigating agency to file an FIR and initiate an investigation into alleged illegal recruitment of teachers by the board based on the teachers’ eligibility test (TET) in 2014.
