Two jobs. Four claimants, so far.

Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay of Calcutta High Court had ordered the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) to terminate the services of Ankita Adhikary, daughter of West Bengal’s former junior education minister Paresh Adhikari, and another woman as teachers of government-aided schools because they had got their jobs illegally.

Bobita Sarkar was given Ankita’s job and Priyanka Shaw was appointed to the other post following Justice Gangopadhyay’s orders.

After the WBSSC published detailed scores of all applicants, Anamika Roy approached the court with the plea that she be given Ankita’s job because she had scored 2 more than Bobita.

The matter was listed for hearing in Justice Gangopadhyay’s court on Friday.

But on Friday, Priti Nirjanin from Jalpaiguri appeared in the court and claimed that she be given Priyanka’s job because her name featured on the merit list before Priyanka’s.

Justice Gangopadhyay postponed the hearing of the case related to Bobita and Anamika till February 3 and decided to address the Priyanka-Priti issue first.

But while hearing Priti’s case, Justice Gangopadhyay remembered that she had earlier approached his court and he advised her to go to a division bench.

But instead of approaching a division bench, Priti again moved Justice Gangyopadhyay’s court.

The judge fined Priti Rs 50,000 for misleading the court and asked her to deposit the amount with the WBSSC within 21 days.

In a separate order, the judge asked the WBSSC to file an affidavit within seven days mentioning the number of vacancies, number of recommendations and number of recruitments to Group D posts in 2016.

Justice Gangopadhyay also asked the CBI to file a report on January 31 about its progress in the investigation into alleged corruptions in Group D recruitments.
