Covid curbs relaxed for gyms, outdoor shoots and jatra

Night curfew and other restrictions will be in place till January 31

The Bengal government on Monday allowed gyms to reopen and outdoor shoots & jatra to resume from Tuesday onwards following compliance with a set of instructions.

According to an official order issued from Nabanna, “Gym may remain open with 50% of the capacity at a time upto 9pm provided staff and users are fully vaccinated or are RTPCR negative.”

“Jatra shall be allowed in a very restricted manner upto 9pm only with 50 per cent of capacity in an outdoor venue and in case of an indoor venue with a maximum of 200 people or 50 per cent of the capacity whichever is lower”, the order further read.

Outdoor shooting for films and TV programmes will also be allowed “with adherence of physical distancing and COVID appropriate protocols.”

The order also emphasised that wearing masks, maintenance of physical distancing and health & hygiene protocol must be followed at all times.

On Saturday last week, the Bengal government had announced that weddings with a maximum of 200 attendees or 50 per cent of the venue's capacity will be permitted from January 16.

Mela or fair were also allowed “in open air venue in a very restricted manner, following COVID appropriate discipline and protocols."

However, all outdoor activities including the movement of people and vehicles remain suspended between 10pm and 5am except for health, law and order, transport of essential commodities including agricultural produce, and other emergency services.
