Haka, Speciality Restaurants’ Asian restaurant has been serving Oriental cuisine across India for 25 years. After a hiatus of two months, the outlet in Salt Lake’s City Centre 1 recently reopened on June 27, with a new look and revamped menu

The revamped space has a contemporary vibe with traditional accents. Keeping the signature Haka theme colour of red, the space has modern wood panelling and indoor plants with wall art featuring Chinese dragons, and more
Spread across 3,000 sq ft, with 122 covers, the restaurant has been made accessibility friendly. The seating arrangement is spaced out for more elbow room for diners while the area for Haka’s popular buffet is expanded for easy accessibility
All the favourites and signature dishes are still on the menu including Drums of Heaven Hong Kong-style, Kung Pao Chicken, Bekti Soy Chilli Garlic and more. New additions include specially curated pan-Asian flavours with dishes like sushi, Velvetty Chicken with Dry Red Chillies and Cashew Nut, Hot Basil Fish, Stir-fried Chinese Greens, Butter Garlic Jasmine Fried Rice, Sizzling Stone Pots, Honey Noodles, Blueberry Cheesecake and Mochi ice cream
There are three kinds of sushi available in both vegetarian and vegetarian options. Vegetarians can pick between Veg California Roll, Asparagus Tempura, Cream Cheese Avocado, while non-vegetarians have the options of Prawn Tempura Roll, California Roll with crab stick, Philadelphia Roll with Salmon. The sushis are only available at the Salt Lake City Centre 1 outlet currently
Present at the relaunch was Anjan Chatterjee, chief managing director, Speciality Restaurants, and he was joined by patrons and celebrities
Speaking about the revamped address, Anjan Chatterjee said, ‘This was long due. We were planning a revamp since the pandemic. The complete renovation took a few months. The menu also needed fresh additions. If you are doing Oriental food, nowadays one cannot go without doing sushi. The taste of the young generation has evolved and to attract them we need to evolve too. That’s why we have sushi and other new items on the menu. While our core is Indo-Chinese, we have Japanese, Vietnamese dishes too’
Tollywood actress Nussrat Jahan was also at the event. ‘Haka serves pocket-friendly delicious food and therefore it is one of the favourite places in Kolkata for foodies. The interior is looking beautiful, the new launches are also exciting!’ she said
Singer-songwriter Surojit Chatterjee and ex-chairman of HIDCO Debashis Sen were also present with family and friends to enjoy the new launches at Haka
Haka at Salt Lake City Centre 1 is right by KIX the lounge bar, and is open all days of the week 12.30pm - 3.30pm (lunch) and 6.30pm - 10pm (dinner). The average pocket-pinch for two is around Rs 900
