In end-October, Vidya Balan, the brand ambassador of Senco Gold & Diamonds, inaugurated its new showrooms at Kankurgachhi and Hatibagan. Gorgeous in a maroon sari and sporting some exquisite Senco jewellery, the actress graced the inauguration alongside Suvankar Sen, MD & CEO, and Joita Sen, director and head of design & marketing at Senco Gold & Diamonds.
“It’s a brand that’s lasted 80 years. There is jewellery for everyone in this brand. It’s aspirational but also accessible, through their various schemes. The karigari is delicate and so beautiful,” Vidya told t2 at the launch. She also unveiled the the brand’s Lotus, Signature and Power collections along with Dhanteras mega offers.
At 11,500 sqft, the Hatibagan showroom is the brand’s biggest so far in its 80-year legacy. So what makes Senco Gold & Diamonds such an enduring brand, we asked Suvankar and Joita Sen. “For us, it is always customer service first. We are constantly innovating regarding designs. The frequency with which we churn out new designs and collections is far higher than the average jewellery brand," said Suvankar. “The service which we give to our customers, we are constantly innovating and upgrading that as well. Not to mention the schemes that we come up with,” he added.

For the brand, the endeavour always has been to showcase local on a global scale. “Our karigars are all from the villages in and around Calcutta. We want to take this talent all across the country and the world... that’s the vision with which we are working,” said Joita.

The vision of the brand is to create jewellery that is accessible to everyone. “Our USP is jewellery which people can buy. It is not jewellery that looks good only. But jewellery that people can wear and use and that includes both timeless pieces and modern pieces,” added Joita.
With the aim of empowering women, Senco Gold & Diamonds has, over the years, enabled many a movement for the socially and economically unprivileged sections of society.
Associating with Vidya syncs well with Senco Gold & Diamonds’s positioning of being real and accessible. “We are really happy to be associated with somebody who is very down-to-earth and real. And more importantly, very respected. Respect, class, elegance. These are things that not everybody has. And these are real values. And we cherish values above everything,” added Joita. “We want the brand to stay warm and connected as well as have authenticity,” said Suvankar.
