Umang 2023, The Bhawanipur Education Society College’s much-anticipated event of the year, powered by t2, was hosted with renewed spirits. Themed on ‘Maze Amaze: Lost and Found in Time’, the high-on-energy and talent extravaganza saw over 80 events categorised into distinctive departments. Enthusiastic participation from over 65 colleges including students from Bangalore, Bhubaneswar and Burdwan, made it a fun affair. The fest blended competitive spirits with notes of celebration, with the participants giving it their best shot. Glimpses.
The final day of the four-day mega fest wrapped up on notes of warmth and memories as singer Mohit Chauhan took centre stage, much to the excitement of all youngsters, weaving melodies with his most celebrated and loved voice. He sang his hit numbers and some covers towards the end. The star performer also shared his college memories and sang Sadda haq, honouring the request of the students.
“It is always a maze as we start our journey from the drawing board and discover the path to the grand finale of Umang. The city rejoices in the festive revelries and we simply stand dazed and amazed,” said Dilip Shah, dean, The Bhawanipur Education Society College.
“The young bunch of people were amazing and beautiful. The confidence that I saw among them was impeccable. I am sure I watched few supermodels of the future in this event,” said Dibyanjana Ghosh, an former student of the college, who judged the fashion show finals.
St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous) performed mellifluous numbers and bagged the winning position in the Indipop finals. “We were extremely happy with the hospitality displayed by BESC. The stage was presented uniquely and it was extremely spacious. We were happy with the sound,” said Aman Singh from the winning college.
The War of DJ witnessed power-packed performances that tested the musical sense, knowledge and remixing potential of contenders to belt out foot-tapping tracks the right way. Vivek Maniar (centre) from The Bhawanipur Education Society College eventually clinched the winner’s trophy in the same. “I had a great time at Umang. The speakers were engaging, and the networking opportunities were fantastic,” he said. Dhruv Bhatia (left) was present to judge the War of DJs. “DJing is growing. It is nice to see youngsters coming up and planning in time. They are also getting a lot of exposure when they are performing at such events. They are learning every day,” said Dhruv.
