Teachers’ pension
The school education department has announced that teachers at the government and aided schools who have worked for nine years and six months or more but less than 10 years will be entitled to pension, a department official said. Earlier, such teachers had to move court to get pension. The earlier rule was that teachers who had worked for a minimum of 10 years were eligible for pension.
PhD entry
Jadavpur University has issued a circular saying individuals and organisations can submit representations before an enquiry committee probing alleged irregularities in PhD admissions. The university had constituted a two-member committee in July after some student organisations alleged corruption in the admission process
Road repair in New Town
Several roads in New Town’s Action Area III will be repaired, an official of the New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) said. The roads include street numbers 797, 798, 853, 851, 849 865, 808 and 812, the official said. The surface of these roads are peppered with craters and were identified during a survey conducted by the NKDA.
