Metro services disrupted
Metro services were disrupted twice on Sunday, first because of a glitch and then after a “suicide bid”. A spark was spotted on the line between the Park Street and Maidan stations around 1.30am, said an official.
“A power block was taken and the problem fixed around 1.50pm,” he said. The glitch left several trains stranded at various stations. The second disruption followed what the Metro official said was a suicide bid.
“A man jumped in front of a New Garia-bound rake at Sovabazar around 4.10pm,” he said. A power block had to be taken and the man was lifted from the tracks. He was being treated at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the police said. The cops said the man “somehow fell” on the tracks. The incident stalled train services between Dum Dum and Central stations. Normal services resumed at 4.45pm, the Metro official said.
