Rain alert
A cyclonic circulation over southeast Bangladesh is likely to intensify and cause “heavy to very heavy rain” in south Bengal, including Kolkata, the Met office said. “Kolkata is more likely to get heavy to very heavy rain on Friday. But it is not ruled out on Saturday as well,” the official said.
Metro disrupted
Metro services were disrupted for almost 30 minutes on Thursday night after a passenger was found “walking” on the tracks between Maidan and Park Street stations. “The motorman of a New Garia-bound train reported seeing a woman walking on the tracks meant for Dakshineswar-bound trains around 9.05pm,” the Metro spokesperson said. “A power block on both lines was taken and staff of Park Street station rescued her at 9.10pm. She was unharmed. The power block was cancelled and normalcy was restored on both lines from 9.32pm,” he said.
