The Saturday Club’s annual Sargi Meet, Gathbandhan, in association with t2, saw the women members of the club celebrate the auspicious occassion with pomp and grandeur. Held on October 31, a day before Karva Chauth, it saw around 300 women dressed in beautiful hues of red and pink. The club was decorated like a wedding mandap, and the strains of shehnai completed the ambience. Apart from live music and dance performances, what made the meet more attractive was mehndi corner, phuchka counter, chaat corner, and various other food counters, along with a lucky draw that kept eveyone busy and happy. The ladies also went home with special Sargi gifts, which included all the items required for Karva Chauth.
Married couples posed for a frame as part of the club’s special Gathbandhan ceremony
This dance group brought smiles with their humorous act that depicted the contrasting behaviours of husbands in situations before and after marriage.
Shayak Gupta, club president, said: “This year’s Sargi meet, named ‘Gathbandhan’, aptly symbolises the union of the bride and groom in a sacred bond for the rest of their lives. It is a heartening sight to see mothers-in-law and daughters in-law keenly following this ritual by participating in large numbers.”
