Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta organised the much-awaited 7 Lakes Fest (7LF), in association with The Telegraph, from November 18-20. An amalgamation of three famous campus events that hold a legacy of over three decades — Intaglio, the business summit, Carpe Diem, the cultural fest, and the 7 Lakes Sports Run, the 7 Lakes Fest was held for the first time in 2020. This time, 7LF returned, taking place on ground after the pandemic, with the theme ‘Reign of Reminiscence’. With the participation of over 11,000 students from colleges and b-schools across the country, the days were packed with events. With a total of 33 events being hosted, the range of events included exhibitions, speaker series, debates, case competitions, et al. Among the key attractions was the keynote speaker series that hosted illustrious names like the author Amish Tripathi ( IIM Calcutta’s alum) and noted content creator Viraj Ghelani. Each club at IIM Calcutta had fun, interesting events and competitions to offer – the dance and music clubs putting up dazzling performances on Cultural Night; Pride of Joka, the LGBTQ+ support group hosting a film screening on campus, and the SpicMacay IIM Calcutta Chapter organising an evening of sitar performance.

A number of competitions allowed students to prove their mettle across different kinds of activities — from quizzing to case competitions, debates to dancing. A different way to remember the fest would be a unique initiative by Shiksha, the social services group at IIM Calcutta – the Wish Tree. Children from various shelter homes in Calcutta spelled out their dreams, big and small, and the people on campus took it upon themselves to make them happen.

The trinity of IIM Calcutta — Music, Choreo and Drama club, in association with the 7LF Team also put up a Cultural Night, with performances spanning across various art genres. With food stalls and fun activities like Zorbing, the campus was buzzing with activity at almost all times of the day. Another event to look forward to this year was a stand-up comedy show by Appurv Gupta. The fest closed with a super-energetic DJ Night by DJ Akhil Talreja.
