The Bengal Classic 2024, the 10th leg of the IGU East Zone Amateur Feeder Tour commenced on August 10, at the golf course of Fort William Environmental Park and Training Area (FWEPTA). The second and final round took place on August 11. The day ended with a series of high-stake victories that came as a result of exceptional show of skills.

Abhishek Mitra, who was leading in the Mid-Amateur category and was giving chase to Sumedh Gangal from the Amateur category, clinched victory in both categories with six over par-144. His masterful performance was followed by Sanu Das, who scored seven over par-144, and went on to become the second position holder from the Amateur category.

Sumedh Gangal, a golfer from Hyderabad, from the Amateur category, who was leading after the first round, ended up as the second runner-up with seven over par-144 as well. Though Das and Gangal ended the second round with the same score, Das played a better round on the second day, and secured the second position in the Amateur category, followed by Sumedh Gangal in third.

Following Abhishek Mitra’s win in the Mid-Amateur category, Kaushik Sinha secured the second position in the Mid-Amateur category. Meanwhile, Captain Rana Chatterji and Adrika Bose emerged victorious from the Super Senior and Ladies categories’ respectively.

Kaushik Sinha also claimed the first position by scoring seven over par-144 in the NETT Division. D.N Kumar and Captain Rana Chatterji claimed the second and the third positions, respectively, in the NETT Division. D.N Kumar also secured the third position in the Mid-Amateur category.

The Bengal Classic 2024, organised by BGA and Protouch, fosters a bright future for golfers of all age groups.
