The ladies of Calcutta Riverside township in Maheshtala organised an exhibition, Prinsep Parampara, on September 5, to showcase their unique creations. The event was inaugurated by actress Rituparna Sengupta.

The exhibition was titled Prinsep Parampara by the residents of Tower Prinsep. “Our organisers' group is called Durga Bahini. We believe our home is more than just a cluster of high-rises, it is what one might call a family,” said Sharmila Sen, one of the organisers.

Held at Princep Podium on the banks of the Hooghly river, those who visited got a spectacular view.

Prinsep Parampara housed around 19 stalls, which were manned by the residents of the housing complex - both young and young-at-heart. Some of the art and craft decor pieces were crafted by artisans of south Dinajpur, East Midnapore, West Midnapore Bankura and Bishnupur. They featured traditional hand-made clothing like saris, home decor items, and jewellery… just right for pre-Puja shopping!

To fuel the shoppers, several food stalls were set-up. From chaat and phuchka to Mughlai delicacies like biryani and chaanp, it was a feast. There were also Bengali delicacies like mutton kosha, chingri malaikari and desserts like patishapta and pithe-puli.
