As predicted by IMD, unseasonal rain played spoilsport on Sunday. Most parts of the state including Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Koderma, Hazaribagh and several other districts experienced intermittent showers since early morning of Sunday.
Satgaon in Koderma recorded the highest rainfall of 27 mm during the past 24 hours. This was followed by Hazaribagh which experienced over 15 mm of rain.
Ranchi and Latehar recorded around 4 mm of rain while Jamshedpur recorded 3 mm rain.
Head of Ranchi Met Centre Abhishek Anand said inclement weather and overcast condition prevailed in most districts across the state on Sunday. "The impact of the western disturbance which has resulted in formation of two low pressure troughs is expected to remain for the next 48 hours," he said.
According to Anand, light to moderate rain is expected in South, central and north- eastern Jharkhand during the next 24 hours. A forecast of light to moderate rain was also issued over north eastern parts of the state for Tuesday.
The Met department issued a forecast of clear weather with light fog and mist early in the morning on the Republic Day on January 26 (Wednesday).
Sunday's satellite readings suggested that an east-west trough was running from Haryana to north Chhattisgarh across south Uttar Pradesh at 0.9 Km above mean sea level. Another north-south trough was stretched from Bihar to north Odisha across Jharkhand at 2.1 Km above the mean sea level.
The cloud cover resulted in an abrupt rise in minimum readings in most parts of the state on Sunday.
Data revealed that most districts recorded minimum reading between 14-15 degree Celsius on Sunday.
