A 37-year-old from the steel city who was injured in a blast at an oil refinery in Kuwait recently succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning. Identified as Kamaljeet Singh, the deceased was a resident of Tuiladungri in Golmuri.
Kamaljeet's brother, Paramjeet Singh said that the blast had taken place in the oil refinery on January 14, when three workers were killed on the spot and 35 others were injured. "My brother was among those injured. We had come to know about mishap and Kamaljeet's injuries two days after the incident on January 16. He was admitted at a hospital in Kuwait and was undergoing treatment there. This morning at about 5 am, we were informed by a foreign ministry official that he is no more, " said Paramjeej while talking to The Telegraph Online.
A bereaved Paramjeej pointed out they were expecting that Kamaljeet will recover from the injuries, but the information of his death shattered their hope. "My brother's body is still lying at the mortuary. And we are undecided whether the body should be brought back to Jamshedpur or not. Rest of the family members, including Kamaljeet's wife Sarabjeet Kaur are shell shocked, " Paramjeej said.
According to family members, Paramjeej worked as a rigger in a Kuwaiti oil company after he had gone there on November 21,2021. "After knowing Kamaljeet's injuries, some of us wanted to go to Kuwait to asess the kind of treatment he was getting, but none of us was fortunate enough to see him on the hospital bed," said one of the ladies in the family while wailing.
The family members were, however, thankful to former legislator Kunal Sadangi who had made all arrangements for family members to directly talk to the hospital management as well as the Kuwaiti authorities.
