State Bank of India, Ramgarh branch has completed all formalities and paperwork to transfer Rs 30 lakh each into the bank accounts of the mothers of three soldiers who were killed in a violent face-off with Chinese troops in Galwan Valley, eastern Ladakh on June 15.

As many as 20 Indian soldiers were killed in this clash.

The three soldiers, Ankush Thakur, Gurtej Singh and Gurwinder Singh belonged to the Punjab Regimental Centre in Ramgarh and completed their training here in 2019.

They all had their salary accounts in the main SBI branch in Ramgarh.

Branch manager of the bank, Rahul Kumar said the bank provides insurance to soldiers if they have salary accounts here.

“In case of deaths, we pay the claims immediately”, he said.

As the three soldiers were unmarried, the amount was transferred into the account of their mothers.

The bank had enacted the transaction since news came about the martyrdom of the soldiers, and the process was completed within seven days.

Ankush Thakur (19), resident of Karhota village in Bahoranj subdivision of Hamirpur district in Himachal Pradesh, joined the army in 2018, along with Gurtej Singh (23), who was a resident of Mansa, Punjab.

Gurwinder Singh (20) was from Tolwal village of Sangrur in Punjab.
