Railway officials on Friday met at Tatanagar station to discuss way to improve passenger amenities.
Tatanagar station director H.K. Balmuchu, who was present at the meeting, said the parking arrangement outside the railway station was elaborately discussed at the meeting.
A section of officials from the commercial wing of railways pointed out that parking outside Tatanagar station needed to be streamlined and sufficient space needed to be provided for four-wheelers.
Currently, the parking slot can accommodate 300 bikes and 100 cars.
A representative of Chhotanagpur Passenger Association stressed the need for another elevator at the A1-category railway station.
“Currently, there is one elevator at the station on platform 1. The proposed elevator on platform 3 is yet to be installed. With the rise in the number of passengers and trains, another elevator will be of much help,” the representative of the association said.
Station director Balmuchu said much emphasis was laid on cleanliness and proper upkeep of the station. “We are also trying to implement environment-friendly initiatives here,” he added.
Balmuchu informed that more food stalls would come up on platforms 3, 4 and 5.
Improving the punctuality of trains passing through Tatanagar station was also discussed at the meeting.
