Burglers broke into the house of an employee of a vehcle showrom and stole property worth Rs 6 lakh in the wee hours of Thursday at the posh Bhui Phore locality in the coal town. Dilip Maharaj's house was locked since the family had gone to relative’s place in Nirsa for Chhath. Dablu Kumar, his younger brother who stays with him, was at his other residence at Hirapur yesterday afternoon.
The incident came to light this morning when Dablu returned to Bhui Phore and found the lock of house broken and several articles lying strewn here and there. He immediately informed his elder brother over phone and simultaneously apprised the Govindpur police which reached the site and collected evidence.
Talking to The Telegraph Online, Maharaj said, “I went to my in laws’ place at Nirsa yesterday as my wife's sister in law has been performing Chhath there. I came to know about the incident this morning when my younger brother who returned from Hirapur informed me. Maharaj added that cash worth Rs 5000 besides gold and silver jewelleries were stolen from the house.
Kiran Devi, his wife said, “All kinds of jewelleries of mine including ear gold rings, chains, armlets, anklets besides some silver jewelleries have been stolen and so were my brother in law's.”
Umesh Prasad Singh, Officer in Charge said, “Our investigation is on and raids are being conducted to nab those behind the theft. We are trying to identify the criminals. We are not writing off the involvement of a local gang.”
