Commuting between Jamshedpur and Ranchi through NH-33 is going to be not only smooth, but also pleasant soon.

The vehicle riders will shortly get a facility of rest area in the middle of the stretch between Jamshedpur and the state capital, ending their dependency on the roadside 'dhaba' or the motels.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) which is carrying out the NH-33 widening work has constructed rest area near the famous Deori temple in Tamar for the benefits of the commuters, especially the truckers.

Set up on the either side of the widened NH-33, the rest areas comprise accommodation for the truckers and also other vehicle owners to take rest during the travelling.

Constructed within a stretch of one kilometre are two units of rest areas. In each of such rest areas are four blocks rest-rooms. A temporary accommodation for many as many as 24 travellers has been set up exclusively for the women, and as many accommodation in the form of beds have been constructed for their male commuters. While availing the accommodation at a paltry amount, a traveller will place for taking rest beside availing the facility of food as well as medical assistance, all provided by the NHAI.

"We have set up such a rest area near Deuri temple and the facility will be made functional shortly, " said Col. Ajay Kapoor, director, NH-33 widening project, while talking to The Telegraph Online. Kapoor said beside the eatery and the medical clinic at the rest area, the travelers will also be able to avail the facility of satellite telephone there.

The NHAI project director said the NH-widening work at the Jamshedpur stretch hangs fire in absence of forest and environmental clearance, but work related to rest of the facility is going on smoothly, the benefits of which could be seen when the widening work gets through.
