The newly elected BJP MP from Ranchi Sanjay Seth inspected widening work on NH-75 and the NH-23 stretch between State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) and Piska More, responding to residents’ complaints about the slow pace of work.

“I am also a resident of this locality and I too face problems. During election campaigning local residents had requested my intervention. Potholes are everywhere. There is water-logging too, I am told. During summer, commuters struggle because of the dust. I asked NHAI officials to expedite construction work,” said Seth, who was accompanied by his party workers during his visit from Piska More to SIRD, a particularly bad stretch.

National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) project manager Ajay Sinha was present during the inspection.

NH-23, that connects Ranchi to Gumla district and neighbouring Chattisgarh, merges with the NH-75 at Piska More.

The road widening project was undertaken in 2017.

NHAI officials promised Seth that they would begin work within a fortnight. Henceforth, they also promised

to spray water to prevent the area from being clouded by dust.

Sinha claimed that NHAI had on a couple of occasions repaired the stretch. But the road was damaged due to water-logging for which he blamed Ranchi Municipal Corporation. “As far as the four-lane of NH-75 from Kutchery Chowk to Kudu in Lohardaga is concerned, the construction work is going on. Besides, we will also take steps to construct the road between SIRD and Piska More,” said Sinha.

Seth also visited several other localities of Ranchi, including Khijri.

“After winning the elections I did not get time to meet people. I wanted to thank them for their support. I will soon systematise things so that people don’t face problems in meeting me,” the MP said.
