Kennedy said the passenger has no fever and his chest X-ray is normal. But his blood count is less than 10gm, said Kennedy, though the youth is “feeling better now”.

All the three persons are being given food by the hospital. The trio were going to Simdega via Ranchi before they had to cut short their journey at Daltonganj.

Stranded at platform

Passengers who got down at Daltonganj on the day of janata curfew on Sunday were stranded.

About 30 passengers who got down from Shaktipunj Howrah Express (Up) here at Daltonganj station had no way to leave. There was no public transport in the wake of the janata curfew here. Station superintendent of Daltonganj station A.K. Tiwary said the stranded passengers were seated the main building of the station but would have to spend the night by themselves.

A source said the waiting room had not been opened for them but a space close to the main entrance of platform 1 had been made available.

Palamau SP Ajay Linda said police patrol had been stepped up and these stranded passengers would not have any security problem.

On food, Tiwary said there was no railway canteen and private hotels too are closed. A source commented it was strange no NGO had come forward to help them till evening.
