Sangita Pandey, 24, was found hanging at her home in Kailash Nagar, Chas, on Friday, her brother alleging her husband murdered her. Sangita, married to home guard constable Niranjan Panday, was two months pregnant. Quoting Niranjan, Bokaro SP Sujata Kumari Binapani said Sangita did not open the door of her room on Friday when her husband left for work at 9am. In the afternoon, when Niranjan returned, the door was still closed. He alerted neighbours and when the door was broken, they found Sangita hanging. There was no suicide note. Apparently, the couple fought a lot. SDPO Bhagwan Das said they had filed an unnatural death case.

Former cyclist dies

Ex-international cyclist Gurdial Singh was cremated at Subarnarekha burning ghat in Sakchi on Friday. He passed away at Tata Main Hospital on March 30. He was 68.

Lockdown help

Members of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh distributed essential products including food items among the needy in Jugsalai on Friday. The members showed the gesture for the second time this week.

Two nabbed

Rakesh Sahu and Baldev Singh were arrested on Friday for allegedly posting objectionable comments on social media related to Covid-19 cases at Delhi’s Nizamuddin congregation. Sahu was arrested by the cyber crime police station in Bistupur and Singh by Mango police.

Prayers at home

Drugstore raid

District drug inspector Kunj Bihari on Friday raided Balajee Drug and Surgical in Jugsalai, where prices of sanitisers, masks and gloves were sold at prices higher than the MRP. Bihari directed an FIR be lodged against the shop owner.

Fines warning

SDPO Kamal Kishore said the police would impose fines on vehicle owners who flout the lockdown from Saturday without valid cause.
