The district administration on Thursday imposed Section 144 at Parasi village under Tamar police station of the Ranchi district after a large number of Pathalgadi supporters allegedly decided to hold a meeting there.

Four shops gutted
Four outlets, including a sweetmeat shop, were gutted at Kokpara under the jurisdiction of Dhalbhumgarh police station area in Ghatshila sub-division of the East Singhbhum district, on the intervening night of Thursday. The fire broke out in the sweetmeat shop first.

Protest
Villagers displaced from Turamdih Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) mining areas staged a demonstration in front of the district collectorate on Thursday and demanded that if the UCIL management does not fulfil the assurances given under rehabilitation and resettlement policies they would stage an agitation and lock up the open cast mines in mid-March.
