A delegation of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly reached Kerala on Wednesday to study the best practices of the southern state in the local governance system.
A senior official said that this was the first such learning trip by a delegation of the Jharkhand Assembly. “Even the Speaker (Rabindra Nath Mahato) was scheduled to accompany the delegation but had to pull out at the last moment because of personal commitment,” he said.
The delegation comprises eight MLAs from different political parties including Saryu Roy (Independent), Mathura Prasad Mahato, Samir Kumar Mohanty and Vikas Kumar Munda (all from JMM), Lambodar Mahato (AJSU), Vinod Kumar Singh (CPM), Amit Kumar Mandal (BJP) and Shilpi Neha Tirkey (Congress).
The delegation was accompanied by panchayati raj department director Nisha Oraon and four members of civil society organisations.
“The delegation will be in Kerala till April 23 and witness the transformation that has taken place in the southern state in all spheres of life through the efforts of the Kerala government,” said the official.
