State tourism minister Amar Kumar Bauri on Wednesday inaugurated the infrastructure developed to promote Jonha falls, about 40km from here, into a popular tourist draw.

Six turret-shaped gazebos, four food kiosks, a tourist information centre and high and low rope courses for adventure activities have been set up near the falls.

“The gazebos will be the perfect place for tourists to sit and enjoy the beauty of the waterfall. The food kiosks, to be run by women self-help groups, will sell several popular dishes,” a tourism department official said.

The rope courses will enable tourists to undertake adventure activities under expert guidance while the information centre will provide details about the other popular destinations in the state.

“This place has something for everybody — adventure sports enthusiasts as well as those looking to enjoy quality time with family. All tourist destinations from Dalma to Netarhat will be developed in the same way,” Bauri said while sharing details about his department’s proposed projects.

Ranchi MP Ram Tahal Choudhary, tourism department secretary Rahul Sharma and general manager of Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation Rajeev Ranjan were also present at the inauguration.

Rope courses will include activities like dumbbell walk, horizontal ladder, swinging ladder, tyre swing, tunnel, vertical log, cross ladder, mini zipline, swinging log, wall climbing, climbing net, skiboard and tyre crossing.

“The low rope course is meant for children. The high rope course is 15 feet above the low course,” Ranjan said.

Department secretary Rahul Sharma asked the executive engineer of building construction department Sanjay Kumar to ensure proper maintenance of infrastructure.
