Roll ball squad off to Guwahati

Budding players from Jharkhand left for Guwahati on Thursday with the hope of putting up a good show at the 13th Sub-junior National Roll Ball Championship to be held from December 28-31.

The 18-member squad (boys and girls) announced by Jharkhand Roll Ball Association (JRBA) comprises players mostly from Tata Steel Roller Skating Centre run by Tata Steel sports wing at JRD Tata Sports Complex .

“The boys and girls are in high spirits ahead of the national meet. All our players are in good form and expected to perform well in Guwahati,” said JRBA secretary Chandeswar Kumar.

The boys in the team include Ujjwal Pratap Singh, Deepanshu Singh, Akshat Singh Raj, Arya Vats, Shreyash Shekhar, Pratham Kashyap and Krish Sinha while Lovely Kumari, Koyna Mudha, Ridhima Anand, Mansi Sahu, P. Yashaswi, Naysa Singh, Roshni Sarkar, Vishwa Priya, Jiya Kumari, Pahal Bhogta and Raimani Jamuda.

Chandeswar Kumar and Malay Kumar Mudha are coach and manager, respectively, of the boys’ team while Jyoti Kumari and Sonu Singh are in the girls’ side in similar capacity. Kumar said some of the boys and girls were fast movers and shot with precision.

“We have stitched out a strong side. Our fast-moving players will be serious threat to opponent teams at the national meet,” he added.

With the Tata cradle having experienced mentors, one can expect a stellar show from the Jharkhand team in Guwahati.

JRBA president Manoj Yadav has expressed confidence in the team’s performance and also extended his good wishes to the team.
