A six-year-old girl was raped by a teen at the latter's house in densely-populated Bagaansahi locality under Mango thana area.

Though the crime was committed on February 26 evening, the matter came to limelight after the family members got the child admitted at the MGM medical college hospital on Saturday.

The victim's parents had known the matter same night she was sexually abused, but they had not reported to the police, apprehending it will affect their social standing. But as the victim had developed complications in her private part during this period, the parents had to take her to the medical college hospital for treatment, thus the matter came to fore.

As for the medical college hospital it was a medico-legal case, the hospital authority informed the police, leading the parents to lodge an FIR with the Mango thana.

OC, Mango thana, Shashi Shankar confirmed about the rape of a minor and said that a case has been registered against a 16-year-old boy with the Mango thana following an FIR lodged by the victim's parents on Saturday.

According to the FIR, families of both the victim and the accused knew each other well and the victim would visit the accused's house which is in the neighborhood.

"The victim had gone to the accused's house on Saturday evening when there was no one else except the teen. Finding an opportunity, the accused raped the minor. We had raided the accused's house soon after getting the FIR, but the teen was found absconding, " said the OC while talking to The Telegraph Online.

Shashi Shankar said they will subject the victim to a medical examination for confirmation of the rape and also will make her depose her statement under CrPC Section 164 in the court soon.

The OC said they will search the accused at the probable hideouts in the Mango and the adjoining Azadnagar thana area where he must have taken shelter at any of his relatives' house.
