The daring duping act took place near Chandrawali residential complex at densely-populated Kashidih under Sakchi thana area at about 8 am .

A resident of Chandrawali Complex, the victim, Usha Devi (40) was returning from the adjoining Baradwari ground after her morning walk at about 8 am when a youth approached her and introduced him as a police man. Subsequently, the youth convinced the woman that as there is a spurt of snatching incidents, they have been deputed by the Sakchi thana to protect the lady morning-walkers from falling prey to the snatchers.

The youth subsequently asked the woman to take out her ornaments from the neck and hands and get them wrapped up in a cloth or paper for safety. As the victim agreed, the youth helped her in taking 'care' of her ornaments which he handed over to her. But as she reached her home and unwrapped the paper packet, she found worthless things in the packet and her ornaments were missing. After realising that she was duped of gold chain and a pair of bangles, she informed the police.

Sakchi thana OC, Rajesh Kumar Singh confirmed the incident. "The woman has been duped by a gang of three bike-borne criminals. While one of them interacted with the woman by impersonifying as police man, two others were standing at a little distance away with a bike. After committing the crime, all the three fled the scene on their bike, " said Singh while talking to The Telegraph Online.

The OC said a patrolling van was passing through the spot while the woman was being duped, but she did not feel it necessary to draw the attention of the real policemen at the sight of an approaching police vehicle. "We have taken out CCTV camera footage of the crime and hope that the case will be solved soon, " Claimed Singh.
