“Prakash ji realised something was wrong because he was sweating excessively, and rushed to RIMS for an immediate check-up,” BJP state spokesperson Pratul Nath Shahdeo said.

“Doctors later said that when he was on his way, he suffered two heart attacks. He reached RIMS at 11am. An angioplasty was done within an hour and the doctors saved him. He is under the care of cardiac surgeon Prashant Kumar.”

RIMS director D.K. Singh said: “The patient is stable now. He had 100 per cent blockage in an artery of the heart. The angioplasty was done within an hour after the patient was admitted.”

When chief minister Hemant Soren and state health minister Banna Gupta heard about Prakash taking ill, they rushed to RIMS cutting their meetings short. They also met the doctors and collected information about his health.

Hemant wished the Opposition leader a speedy recovery.

“Whatever treatment was required was given to him (Deepak Prakash). His condition is stable. Doctors have advised him rest. I wish he gets well soon and returns to his old form,” the chief minister said.

He also praised government hospitals.

“It is the government hospitals which are saving the lives of people despite facing criticism. It has been proved in the time of the novel coronavirus,” he said.
