The fate of candidates in Ghatshila and Baharagora would be known by around 2pm, while that of the eagerly awaited Jamshedpur East constituency would be known around 3pm.

Baharagora (general) constituency, which had 75.36 voting percentage, is a straight contest between sitting

MLA Kunal Sarangi of the BJP with the JMM’s Samir Kumar Mohanty will have counting for 19 rounds in 14 tables. In 2014, Kunal had won the seat on a JMM ticket. There are 264 polling booths in Baharagora.

Ghatshila (ST) constituency, which had 70.37 voting percentage, has a triangular contest between the BJP’s Lakhan Chandra Mardi, the JMM’s Ramdas Soren and Congress turncoat Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu who is fighting on an Ajsu Party ticket.

Ghatshila, which has 291 polling booths, will have counting in 20 rounds.

“The more the number of polling booths the more time it is takes for counting of votes,” said East Singhbhum deputy development commissioner B. Maheshwari.

Jamshedpur East (General), where five-time MLA and chief minister Raghubar Das is fighting former cabinet colleague Saryu Roy, witnessed 56.30 per cent voting and will have counting in 20 rounds from 293 polling booths.

The results of Potka and Jamshedpur West are expected around 4pm.

Jugsalai (SC), with 381 polling booths, will have counting done in 20 rounds and the result is expected around 4 pm.

East Singhbhum deputy commissioner-cum district electoral officer Ravi Shankar Shukla said three-phase training would be conducted for counting assistant and counting observers and micro-observers for efficient counting.
