In a bid to ensure issuance for voter ID card and providing disability pension for the specially abled students, a special camp was organised today at a Jharia-based resource centre. During the event, the registration process of around 30 students and form submission of disability pension for eight students were completed.
The camp began this morning under the supervision of Kumar Tarachand , Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) of Dhanbad during which all resource teachers of the centre led by Physiotherapist Dr Manoj Kumar besides Pramesh Kushwaha, Circle Officer of Dhanbad were also present.
Talking to The Telegraph Online today, Akhalaque Ahmad a special educator cum therapist of resource centre said, “The basic aim of organising the camp was to empower the specially abled students with all the valid documents like Voter ID card through which besides exercising their franchise and also become eligible for various welfare schemes of the government meant for them.”
Munni Devi, a widow and mother of physically challenged student, Rinki Kumari (19) said “My elder son who imparts private home tuitions in the neigbourhood is the sole bread earner of the family and due to financial crunch we could not manage the expense the future studies of Rinki who has completed matriculation.”
Echoing similar sentiments, Soni Khatoon, a 12 year old hearing impaired student Jahid (12) of Thana More locality of Jharia said, “My husband Maqsood Alam somehow manages a living of seven in our family, including our five children by working as a street vendor and we can hardly manage the expenses of the eduaction of our children. We applied for the disability pension of Jahid today as it will support the family income and somehow his study as well.”
