The district has achieved cent per cent recovery of Covid-19 cases so far, with the last three patients cured and discharged from the Bokaro General Hospital on Thursday, said deputy commissioner Mukesh Kumar.
In the past few weeks, six other Covid-19 patients had recovered. Bokaro district, where nine tested positive for the novel coronavirus, has zero active cases as of now.
Deputy commissioner (DC) Mukesh Kumar, superintendent of police (SP) Chandan Kumar Jha, along with other senior bureaucrats, doctors and medical staff bid farewell to the patients with applause and cheers on Thursday morning.
The DC underlined that while they had achieved zero Covid-19 status for now, it was too early to call the district free of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
“We have to stay alert,” he said.
The three patients, all middle-aged men, who were kept for treatment in the isolation ward at the hospital, looked happy too. All three, in their 50s, are from Telo in Chandrapura block of the district. While leaving the hospital, each was handed a fruit basket, told to maintain social distancing for the time being and eat nutritious food to strengthen their immunity.
The DC thanked the BGH.
“The hospital run here in Bokaro by SAIL is a big boon for us, as it helps the patients of not only Bokaro but Hazaribagh, Dhanbad and Giridih districts. All nine Covid-19 patients of the district were admitted to the BGH here for treatment,” he pointed out.
“The hospital dean, additional dean, doctors, nurses, healthcare officials and sanitary workers worked day and night for this feat. And I would like to express my gratitude towards them. Also, the work of the police, firemen and rescue teams, revenue, development, public health department officials and all other departments cannot be easily forgotten,” the DC said.
He also invited everyone to clap their hands and appreciate each other for their hard work.
