A group of Wasseypur youths, who work as volunteers of a social outfit, celebrated Id in a unique way on Monday.

The youths distributed traditional festive goodies to the frontline workers fighting the novel coronavirus such as police personnel and health workers.

Ammi Ka Khana (literally, food made by mom), the outfit of Wasseypur near Dhanbad town, works for the betterment of the needy of the nearby areas, with special focus on the ailing and widows who live alone.

The outfit also provides fruits and healthy food to needy patients admitted at the government-run Patliputra Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in Dhanbad.

On Monday, the volunteers led by Abdul Rahman reached Bhuli police outpost and then to Bank Mor police station to distribute Id goodies like sewai, milk, sugar, lacchha as well as masks and sanitisers to the police personnel.

Then, they also distributed the same to the doctors and health workers at the PMCH.

Abdul Rahman, who led the volunteers for the day, told The Telegraph: “The doctors, cleaning and civic staff and policemen are the real coronavirus warriors who are leading from the front to keep us safe. We, thus, decided to felicitate all of them during this pious occasion. Nothing can be a better service than offering our gratitude to those who are serving humanity in this hour of crisis.”
