Palamau police on Saturday sent three persons to judicial custody after seizing an 8GB memory card, which sources said contained key information about CPI(Maoists), from one of them.

Sources the three persons — Aurangabad residents Akhilesh and Ajay Yadav and Lesliganj resident Mithilesh Yadav — were supposed to deliver the memory card to rebels either in Saranda (Jharkhand) or Chakar Bandha (Bihar).

Police said the chip was handed over to Akhilesh by Ajay who got it from Mithilesh. Akhilesh is the younger brother of dreaded Maoist Vinayji, the secretary of Bihar Jharkhand special area committee of CPI(Maoists). Akhilesh and Ajay are brothers.

Though police can only scan the chip after court permission, the arrested trio have confessed that it contained key details about Maoist bunkers, arms and strike targets.

“The memory chip that was supposed to reach the Maoist top brass contains sensitive information about their sinister designs,” Palamau SP in-charge Ashwani Kumar Sinha said.

He said the arrested trio had revealed that Maoists on the border of Bihar and Jharkhand were desperate to rear their heads again.
