Digging up of Tata-Kandra Road's service lanes for pipe laying works in Adityapur has put the commuters' life in danger. As a result of the service lanes turning almost defunct as the commuters, including the pedestrians as well as the two-wheeler riders have to negotiate through the main road risking their lives instead of commuting through the service lanes.
Pipe laying work for the Adityapur Municipal Corporation's (AMC) sewage project is going on. Similarly, pipeline laying work for GAIL is also going on. For getting the pipeline works executed, the agencies of both the sewage project and GAIL have dug up the service lanes of the Tata-Kandra Road which is considered to be the lifeline of Adityapur residents.
"Ever since the Tata-Kandra four-lane came into being in the year 2012, I had been using the service lanes for going to one place to another by using the service lanes. But since the past three months moving around the places in Adityapur has become risky as the service lanes are no longer negotiable, " said a 64-year-old man Amaresh Sinha while talking to this website. A resident of S-Type area of Adityapur, Sinha said those who pass through the main road have to either take extra precaution or have to face road mishaps.
Like Sinha, many other residents are disgruntled after the service lanes ceased to be operational due to the large-scale digging works going on along the Tata-Kandra road. Tata-Kandra road was set up in 2012 by the Jharkhand Accelerated Road Development Corporation Limited (JARDCL) on behalf of state's Road Construction Department (RCD) at a cost of Rs 185 crores. As per an agreement between the JARDCL and the RCD, the former has to maintain the four-lane for 30 years. Senior manager, JARDCL, Satyam Pramod said they were helpless when digging work started on the service lanes in October.
"The agencies concerned started digging the service lanes having obtained permission from the RCD authority in Ranchi. Moreover, it not known when will the pipelines laying work be completed. So long as the pipeline laying work is not completed, the people will have to suffer, " said Satyam while talking to The Telegraph Online.
