Cyber criminals withdrew Rs 1 lakh in instalments over three days from the Harmu Post Office account of C.P. Singh, a businessman who lives in the Sahajanand Chowk locality in Harmu Housing Colony. Singh came to know about the withdrawal when he went to update his account passbook at the post office. An FIR was registered at Argora police station.
Dry-port cheer
Tata Steel’s rake was despatched to Haldia port in Bengal on the first day of operation of the Jharkhand’s first dry port (inland container deport) at Burmamines on Saturday. The dry port will be maintained by Container Corporation of India Limited (Concor), a central government enterprise, and will facilitate export and import of goods from local industries which earlier used to ferry their goods to Haldia, Visakhapatnam and Paradip.
Rotary, 40
The Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West organised a press meet on Saturday to highlight on its 40th anniversary. Club president Shweta Chand spoke about various initiatives that included adoption of three villages, setting up a residential school, and holding workshops to train teachers.
Molest charge
A woman employed as a private security guard on Saturday approached Dhurwa police station accusing a CISF jawan at the HEC headquarters in Dhurwa of molesting her.
Suicide
Prem Sagar Das, 55, committed suicide by jumping into the Subernarekha river along Babudih Basti under Sidhgora police station limits on Saturday morning. Police said Das was mentally disturbed after his daughter's marriage failed to take place recently. The cops have sent his body to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.

Jharkhand lost the pre-quarter match 25-17 to Railways on Saturday in the ongoing 48th Senior Men’s National Handball Championship in Kanpur.

JFC (Reserves) will take on Punjab FC (Reserves) in the 2nd Division I League at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Sunday. The Under-18 side of JFC, on the other hand, will play against Dhanbad Football Academy in the Elite Youth League at Sijua Stadium on Sunday.
Tractor fire
Fire gutted a tractor of Ranchi Municipal Corporation at in the sector 4 areas of HEC Township at Dhurwa police station in the wee hours today. Reason behind the fire could not be ascertained.
Meat mischief
Tension gripped Parsudih locality after a piece of meat was found in front of a temple on Saturday. Local residents blocked the road in protest and paramilitary forces were deployed to control the situation. Parsudih police station officer in-charge Ajay Kumar said the act of dropping the piece of meat was meant to disrupt communal harmony and cops were trying to detect the culprit.
Van hits students
Two seven-year-old students were injured after being hit by a pick-up van at Kandarkoda Chowk on Jayangarh-Champua Road under Jagannathpur police station in West Singhbhum on Saturday. The injured were identified as Nandkishore and Golden Devgam, students of Kandarkoda Primary School. Police said both were rushed to Champua hospital in the adjoining Keonjhar district of Odisha from where Nandkishore was shifted to SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.
Lawyers’ strike
Registrar (establishment) of Jharkhand High Court Akhil Kumar has informed president of Palamau District Bar Association (Daltonganj) that the HC is ready to meet a delegation of office bearers of the association whose members are on a strike since Saturday to protest against the rude behaviour of a senior judge with a senior lawyer on the court premises.
Hindi fight
A delegation of Odisha’s ruling BJD met Dr Gitanjali Batmanabane, director of the AIIMS, and demanded withdrawal of the notification issued on February 20 to employees to use Hindi as a language of communication. The director denied Hindi was being imposed, and said it was an internal memo that was circulated. BJD MP Pinaki Misra said: “AIIMS authorities have assured us that patients can continue to fill up forms in Odia or English.”
NHRC eye on infant death
Jharkhand police have directed the Palamau cops to submit all records of the case related to the death of a three-year-old girl whose mother has accused security personnel of murder.
The suspect's wife lodged an FIR against members of the raiding team, and approached the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) alleging that the raiding team barged into her home and had thrown their child, who was sleeping inside the room, on the ground.
Simdega girls rescued from Delhi
Simdega police on Saturday brought back four underage girls of the district who were trafficked to Delhi by a man named Bhola Sahu.
Sahu, 32, of Basia in Gumla district, was arrested on February 12 in a human trafficking case lodged with the anti-human trafficking unit of Simdega district on November 12 last year. He was charged under sections 363 (kidnapping) 370 (5) (dealing with buying or disposing of any person as a slave) of the IPC besides sections of the Juvenile Justice Act.
