The district administration and police made elaborate security arrangements for the Ranchi visit of Union home minister Amit Shah on roads from Birsa Munda Airport to Prabhat Tara ground at Dhurwa where Babulal Marandi joined the BJP.
In the wake of the ongoing sit-in at Haj House against the new citizenship matrix, the police had apprehended that protesters might either show black flags or create some kind of disturbance and thus the police and the administration made proper security bandobast.
No incident of protest was reported, however, police remained vigilant till the time Shah flew back to Delhi. “Security arrangements were made according to the protocol and assessment. But it can’t be revealed because of security reasons,” said sources in the police.
Security personnel were deployed on the 3km stretch from the airport to the event venue and security personnel were deployed at strategic locations, however, traffic blockade remained effective only during the arrival and departure of Shah. Additional traffic cops were deployed on the stretch.
At the venue, 10 entry gates were made for party workers and common people out of which five were restricted for the use of VIPs.
